First off, night bar staff is phenomenal! Front desk, lounge, and restaurant staffing could use attitude improvements. High priced for cheap service. Basic bare minimum effort on restaurant food. $25 minimum for all breakfast items, I mean really.. $25 for a basic Belgian waffle with berries? You could always resort to the $10 bagel. We also had M-lounge for our visit. Not worth the extra money. Breakfast served is basic buffet with minimal choices. Like oatmeal (with no toppings), eggs and sliced ham. We had a top floor, king room for our stay. Again, nothing spectacular. Pretty basic, front desk staff rude and annoyed that we called asking for the room to be cleaned and fresh towels delivered after 3 days with no servicing. Again, only delight was the bar staff that was very friendly, outgoing and provided pleasant service. Probably won’t stay here again.By David Mattke (a month ago)This is a great hotel for travelers. Excellent and knowledgeable staff. Plenty of space to work in lobby.. and you should because the view is amazing. For those who want to get an outdoor workout in, there is a great path to run or walk. Visit Burlingame a 10 minute ride away for great food and shopping. Plus nice M lounge.By Lisa Abraham (3 months ago)Poor customer service. Many “amenities” listed on website are not actually valid. No EV charging (as advertised) and the pool was closed for maintenance without any kind of notice; which many hotels notate prior to arrival. Tepid response from Annabelle after providing feedback. Just seems like no one cares – which is a shame. The world is recovering from a pandemic and staffing remains a challenge, which are things we understand. What we do not understand, however, is why we felt no genuine empathy or care when voicing our concerns. It simply felt as though our frustrations fell on deaf ears. I’d expect Marriott to do better.By Nick G (a week ago)Refrigerator in my room didn’t work, called reception. The service provided was our stunning! They solved the problem within 10 min providing new refrigerator. Parcel service very efficient. Gym
Equipment decent needs some more hygienic care tho.By Agna Pil (4 weeks ago)Location was amazing. Check in was simple. Breakfast was delicious. But the room was very disappointing. We walked in the room and right away it had a smell like the carpet wasn’t clean. I looked around and you could tell the carpet wasn’t vacuumed. For the money you spend a dirty carpet was just disappointing.By Dawn Sullivan (a week ago)

Great location, not all of which translates into a great view (car park, restaurant building in way) but it’s very handy for the beach. The reception staff are lovely. Fridge and microwave in the room. However, the furnishings and fixtures are really old and wonky. Our toilet wasn’t square to the wall and the seat wobbled almost off, the balcony door stuck. It all looked a bit shabby. The balconies have no screening from neighbors, and there was a fair bit of noise from the car park. Our room smelled bad enough (like a weird cleaning agent) that I had to leave coffee bags around to get rid of it. I did mention this stuff but nothing was done. The prices are not cheap, otherwise I’d probably shrug my shoulders over it. The restaurant is completely closed too. Expect motel-type standard when deciding if it’s good value. Don’t take someone you want to impress.By Chris Brehm (8 months ago)The location was nice, only because the beach was right across the street. The rooms were a decent size. There was a ton of mold in the shower and words written from the steam of the shower from the previous guest, meaning the shower was never cleaned before we arrived. Will not be returning to this hotel and would recommend finding a better hotel.By Brianna Bobbitt (2 months ago)The big tub, balcony and pool were nice features. The place is a little dingly. There was lots of black mold on the walls of the bathroom and the floors should be cleaner. I see they are under construction so hopefully next time is a little bit better.By Lindsey Delgado (2 months ago)Absolute disgusting hotel. When we first entered the hotel we noticed how disgusting and dirty the floors were. Then we moved to the bathroom after a two hour trip and came to find poop on our toilet seat. Our entire family was mortified. Next we moved to the beds and realized how stained the pillow cases and sheets were. Overall the entire hotel was disgusting and made our birthday trip ruined and uncomfortable. Before leaving we found a cockroach and immediately became overwhelmed with anxiety afraid there was more. When we called we were told nothing but excuses. For such an expensive hotel and weekend we were expecting at least a quality cleaned room.By Ally B (6 months ago)Completely underwhelmed. The hotel looks beautiful from the outside, but the experience was the opposite – our initial room smelled like a Vegas casino hotel room (gross cigarette smoke). We asked to get our room switched & they wouldn’t without charging us an upgrade fee. Our 2nd room was nice with a beautiful view, but because it’s right over the high way, it was really loud (bring eat plugs). The room wasn’t swept in between guests (long dark hairs on floor). The room didn’t have wash cloths, so when I asked for them at the front desk, she asked why I needed them. So much potential, but NEVER staying there again.By Sarah Emmert (4 months ago)

My husband has been going through cancer treatment for almost two years and we finally decided it was time to get out and enjoy ourselves. While we are long time Marriott guests we have never stayed at a Ritz property and we were thrilled at out first stay. The front desk hosts, Jan and Joanna, were beyond kind and delightful and everyone that helped my husband book this trip was incredibly helpful. He has some specific post surgery needs and everything was accommodated. The rest of the staff was just as lovely and then the hotel itself is truly beautiful. The calm and soft decor, the magnificent structure, the beautiful natural rock theme throughout topped off by the unparalleled view of the Bay and golf course – made for an exceptionally special getaway. We are grateful to the generous kindness of everyone we encountered and hope to return to continue to celebrate my husbands health in the future. You have outdone yourselves in maintaining this treasured place. Thank you!
Cool hotel that’s as amazing as the photos make it look. Very high quality, but somethings that will prevent me from coming back. Everything is over priced. Just because you’re dealing with ultra wealthy shouldn’t mean that you overcharge for everything. Example: glass of Justin cab. Bottle is $23 at Costco, glass of wine was $42 via room service.
If you’re checking in and have never been here before, I advise you to do it during daylight. At night, this property is so poorly lit you won’t be able to see anything. I was roomed on the other side of the property in the cottages. Nice room with a fire pit and fireplace. Nice touch. However, it’s dark as hell and I couldn’t find my room to save my life. You literally have to go on a road and pass a sign that says “country club and valet only”. Doesn’t say anything about the hotel rooms over there. Confusing as can be.
Again, beautiful room with gorgeous view, but if you don’t play golf, prepare to be bored out of your mind because there’s nothing else out there.
I never stay overnight at the Ritz because I live in SF. But I so frequent because I enjoy the dining.
The service is impeccable but only if you dress the part. Sad to say that when I’m not in professional “wear” the restaurant host is not… up to Ritz standards
Regardless, I just take a seat and wait to be summoned for my table. The restaurant wait staff is always fantastic.
The valet is good. I think they enjoy driving my 911. Cheers!
There is no doubt that the Ritz-Carleton in Half Moon Bay is one of the bay area’s best destinations. Just a quick drive from bay-side cities, visitors will feel like they’ve traveled to some faraway wonderland. Have out-of-town guests? This is the spot to take them. Hotel staff members are friendly and helpful, and the dining and bar experience is great.
I do have to note, however, that the parking situation here is a borderline nightmare. Employees will tell you that valet is required and costs a whopping $50 on the weekends. How is that reasonable in any way? What they won’t tell you is that there is a parking garage just a few steps away where you can park for free if spots are available. Be careful, though. I parked in an unmarked spot within that garage and was quickly hunted down by a rude valet attendant telling me I needed to move, etc. The whole interaction had the potential of ruining my visit. To hotel management: PLEASE stop charging an exorbitant amount for parking and/or make it clearer as to where guests can park within the garage. Your valet staff is having to fight battles with guests over parking, and that’s not fair to anyone.
Even though the parking experience was really unpleasant, the rest of the visit more than made up for it and my guest and I still ended up having a wonderful time.
Extraordinary experience at this restaurant, you will appreciate their Sunday Brunch with an amazing variety of delicious food that you will be able to eat as much as you can. Quality is absolutely amazing and service was excellent. You will want to book a reservation to ensure that you can have a table. It’s generally fully booked. Wine offering is also stellar. Lastly , the views are sublime. Highly recommended. Enjoy!
