We were there for two days for day visits. It’s a lovely place, laid back staff and good service. The food is not good, the burgers taste like they were made with boerewors meat, the prawns were so bad they tasted like they were frozen for months and the thawing process wasn’t good, they were doughy and had no taste. There is a limited amount of drink options. Basically you just need to lower your standards and enjoy the views and your company, otherwise it’s no 5 star hotel.

We were there for lunch on 3 days, the food was middle class level , but the communication was a disaster! On each day we never got what was ordered or always far too much in portions ( 8x fries for 4 guys ) or then once only half of the order….
3 points from the local guide for the beautiful location and a nice service, which is the best

For the price point, we were expecting a lot more. The pictures advertised are a bit deceiving. The rooms were barely passable. Food was bland and one dimensional….not all dietary requirements are taken into consideration when planning the menu. The food definitely needs to be given more attention. Staff are polite and helpful but are clearly untrained. Buffet meals were often served up to 45 minutes later than the stipulated time with management nowhere to be seen.

It’s a great location with lots of potential. However, it is poorly managed and in a state of disrepair. Either the price needs to drop considerably, or the standards need to reflect the pricing.

This facility is located on a very beautiful area, the staff is helpful & friendly. Unfortunately the lack of security takes away all the good from this place, we were burgled in the am’s whilst sleeping & had our mobile phones stolen, no security in sight, the only emergency numbers provided are for local SAPS, hospitals & doctors. There’s no numbers for the management team or onsight security. The security showed up after +-30min of the incident but I must really commend them for being proactive & they really tried helping locate our phones. The experience was very traumatic as you only imagine what could have happened should we have woken up with a bugler in our room, what if there was only females in the room? The facility is really let down by this & hope they have learnt & will improve from this incident. It will take us sometime to recover from this trauma & try visit this area again. We unfortunately lost all pictures we took at this beautiful location as the phones had not backed up yet.

Had supper with my wife there. Absolutely amazing! Clean, spacious with friendly and helpful staff. The seafood was delicious and the chips crispy and well backed. The calamari, prawns and fish was baked to perfection! The sauce the spice and the flavor was perfect! We were offered complimentary coffee and tea. Real value for money!
The best part is the stunning seaview!
While eating you can hear and enjoy the seaview!
The hotel is located right on the beach.
Fizele and his team was absolutely amazing!
The made everything possible to give us an unforgettable dinner experience.
Would recommend this hotel restaurant anytime.

The best seafood you can eat. Fresh and well presented. Price is fair. Service can be slow but hey, it’s the Transkei.

5 Replies to Uncovering Top 7 Beach Resorts for Your Dream Vacation in Coffee Bay, South Africa

  1. Room was clean, nice staff at the bar, but staff at reception was not friendly nor helpful. Infrastructure altogether from the resort was questionable, not even considering to out some logs on the ground in order for the guest to not cover their feet in mud. And the road to get there and out was super bad.

  2. First placed at the backpackers which is not what I wanted, noticed segregation there.
Secondly upgraded to what I thought was a better 2 bedroom only to find the thatch roof was leaking in both bedrooms. There was either no Water or brown dirty water for 3 days. No noise control. Area was beautiful though close to ocean 🌊 that was refreshing. The experience was not what I expected and pretty much underwhelming.

  3. We booked a 3 bedroom chalet for 7 nights. After travelling on very bad roads, we arrived to find the chalet needing more than a little TLC. Curtain rods fell off when we tried to open the curtains. Green mud water spouted from working taps. We were not warned that tap water was not drinkable. 1 of the 2 bathrooms had no water. The 3rd bedroom had many leaks. Bathroom tiles were missing. A cistern cover was missing. A number of plug points and lights were not working. Cockroaches were huge. Kitchen was dirty and glasses were lacking. The lounge suite had no covers and the sponge was covered with sheets. Floor tiles were uneven and broken. We then ran out of water for 3 days and after 5 days we left disgusted in the poor care and maintenance.
Beautiful location but shocking conditions. Not recommended and definitely a no go.

  4. Hole in the wall Resort. Don’t be fooled! The accommodation at Hole-in-the-Wall resort is nothing short of disgraceful. No water for 3 of our 5 days. Reception cannot assist, rather go straight to the manager. Roofs were leaking (I have never seen so many people complaining at the same time before). We had a 6 sleeper which was short on glasses, etc.
Our toilet did not flush, even when we had water. The lid for the cistern was missing. Couch cushions had no covers, they had a sheet over. Tiles falling off walls. Bathroom door looked like it had excrement all over it. Light fittings missing and the wiring for the plugs and fridge would not pass an inspection. Grounds not maintained or kept tidy, litter and bottles lying around.
The area was beautiful but I would avoid this “resort”
