I stayed here a while ago but it was one of the best hostels I stayed in. It’s a big party hostel and if you want a quiet night don’t stay here. The rooms and shower are clean. It can be a bit cold in the room. The location is perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful with information about activities in and around Cairns. The parties at this place are crazy! Great music, atmosphere and good cocktails. Like I said if you want a quiet night don’t come if you want party this is the place to be! Happy travelsBy M M (6 months ago)The hostel is huge, it has a great reception and the staff is very friendly, I am very grateful to the guy who speaks Spanish and a girl who helped me in the morning to call a tour company. All very kind.
On the other hand, being a party hostel, the rooms are always clearly messed up by the young people, but they still go to clean the floor in the morning.
The pool is very good, and there’s plenty of space, but it’s too small with so many people who come here.
The bed was comfortable and there is air conditioning, which is appreciated because Cairns is incredibly hot.
The place has billar tables
I had a great time, thank you.By Francisque Hormazábala (5 months ago)WARNING FOR THOSE BOTHERED BY SMOKING! They allow everyone to smoke off of all the balconies so it drifts into the rooms and people smell strongly of it directly beside you which caused me problems as an asthmatic. Also very loud at night not just outside but inside as people don’t respect the quite after 10pm rule. But the staff were nice and friendly. The location was great, the beds nice and the bathrooms alright.By Erika Lerchner (a month ago)I arrived and found out that it must be a party hostel. I tried to cancel my reservation without cancel fee but not possible, the stuff gave me a quiet room. It was nice, no party sounds I heard in that room. Thank you for giving me quiet room. It was pretty clean too, in the room.By 石川葉子 (3 weeks ago)If you are young and like party every day, it’s your place! I don’t know about the shared rooms, but the room for a couple it’s really big and all clean, there is a fridge and a microwave at the room. Unfortunately, the guests don’t respect the kitchen rules, which make our nights really hard and the reception didn’t do anything about. That’s really sad, it a hostel who employs only young people, who doesn’t have a training or doesn’t even know what they are doing, that is valid for the tour agency too, which send us 1 hour earlier to our trip and for the bar or restaurant of Gilligan, which couldn’t understand our request and charged us wrongly. Pay attention there!By Roberta Zapia (5 months ago)

Had a 3 night stay at the resort with partner & friends as the culmination of our Queensland road trip. Excellent facilities, large comfortable bed. Breakfast was included in our package and that was a pretty good spread each morning.
Have really enjoyed our stay and are now a little sad to be leaving – and that our holiday is nearly at its end.
Would love to return again one dayBy Greg Gazza959 (6 months ago)My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort. All the staff were very welcoming and the service was second to none. Lots to do and see, and plenty of Food choices! Huge thank you to Tammy, who had the brightest personality and always left us laughing, absolute 5 stars for her service.By Jackson Fifield (6 months ago)Nice location and space in the room.
On the down side, the sink didn’t drain (fixed the same day when we informed the staff) when we arrived and the room wasn’t made up on the second day. Prices on the island were high for food but especially drink ( alcohol). Lovely deck over the wetlands for sitting out so bring a bottle and enjoy the view.By victor clayton (a month ago)Great resort, we had a great time. Would highly recommend visiting the lovely lake McKenzie for crystal clear water. West coast cruise tour is also great. Has the potential to be outstanding which could be done with the improvement of dining and other little things such as wifi and a gym.By Luke Geoghegan (4 months ago)We had the best time at the resort.
There was a brief power outage but changed over to the generator in no time. I love that they gave us a $10 for not getting the room serviced. It is a lovely incentive to save the environment.By Maria Heaton (3 months ago)

Everything about our stay here was perfect. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the pool and bar are perfect, the rooms clean, shower is big and the bed is very comfortable. My son used the gym which he enjoyed, the buffet breakfast is amazing, and the location is ideal. After checking out of our room, our departing flight was late in the evening and we were given a swipe card to use the swimming pool, shower and gym throughout the day- so useful and accommodating. Everything was perfect and made our holiday very happy.
Great experience with Shangri-La Cairns. The building interiors require further renovation and maintenance, however the room looked already renovated and clean. Good to see that the carper floors were replaced with laminate. Air conditioner is quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was clean however regular checks and fixes are required. One day we had a cute gecko in our bathroom but a day after it was scared away by staff or contractors who perform regular pest control.
Hotel staff are well trained, friendly and extremely professional.
Breakfasts are good but may not be appropriate for people with dietary requirements. The quality of omelets really depends on the chef on duty and was different on different days.
Pool is clean and well maintained, however the pool bar has ‘flexible’ hours of work and opens and closes at random time.
Overall impression is very good. Thank you.
Stayed here for a few days and it was great. The rooms are a nice size and the bathrooms are big with these interesting doorless showers. The breakfast buffet was very good. The pool was nice and the bartender really new how to make creative mixed drinks. Room service was prompt and courteous. The location is great with many stores on the ground level and it was near the marina where the Great Barrier Reef tours are. All in all, it was an amazing experience.
The location of the hotel was excellent, offering a stunning port view from our room. Although the building is somewhat dated, as evidenced by the old-fashioned tiles in the bathroom and the TV cabinet.
One notable feature was the Dyson powerful hairdryer provided in the room, which we appreciated. The room service was impressive. We noticed that the kettle wasn’t clean enough, but the staff promptly provided us with a replacement. Overall, we had a good experience, but considering the price, I would explore other options for our next stay.
Simply too far to travel to the tower I was allocated. I requested for a room closer to reception but not attended to. I was happy to but not given an opportunity to upgrade to another room closer to the reception. Chris the manager did not manage the situation well and I ended up had to limp for 5-10min from the reception to my allocated room.
Otherwise, reasonable food. Great location and view. Absolutely horrible staff and service in general. Great amenities and room.
