Cool place! Another couple and my wife and I stayed for 10 days in November. We’re avid hikers and had not been to Kauai before. We were not disappointed in the island or the resort!

The grounds are exactly what you would want on a Hawaiian island: lots of lush foliage, wandering walkways, and freshwater swimming pools. The only negative here was that there is only one hot spa pool and it is rather small, so when more than 6-7 people are in it, be prepared to rub up against strangers (not the worst thing in the world!).

I can’t speak for all the units, but we had a two bedroom, top floor suite and it was perfect. Very spacious with 20+ foot high ceilings made it feel like a mansion. The views of the ocean and the golf course were stunning. The kitchen was large enough for two of us to be in there chopping and cooking up a storm.

There are also BBQ grills by the pool and a tennis court.

The service at the resort itself was very good. I am Wyndham owner and the high pressure sales tactics are always uncomfortable, but what made this slightly more frustrating was that I had a specific issue I needed addressed (to remove someone from the Wyndham deed who has passed away) and they told me they could help me and then couldn’t and then proceeded to simply try to sell me more points. It’s their job, so I don’t fault them for that, but it was unfortunate that they said they help with my issue when they couldn’t.

Anyway, that may not apply to resort itself and be more of a corporate Wyndham thing.

Either way, it was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend staying here if you’re headed to Kauai!

Great room in 3 bed suite for 5 of us. Good service. Comfy beds and great bath products. The jetted tub needs updating. I didn’t like the washer/dryer combo, my clothes didn’t feel clean and smelled weird. Beautiful pools. Great game rooms.

The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with all the amenities. The pool is nice and the grounds well kept. A nice gym (but not open 24 hrs. Bummer). The staff is super nice. Not close to the beach but not far and a great place to stay . Highly recommend it.

The rooms are nice. The location is quite far from the points of interest we had in mind, and the only beach we wanted to see nearby (the beach by the Kalalau trail) is now only accessible by reservation only. There are also plenty of chickens to wake you up at sunrise (though I recognize there’s nothing much to be done about that).

The food trucks and amenities available on the property are nice. They also offer beach equipment (chairs, parasol) for rent, which can be convenient. Note that the cost for renting is nearly the same as purchasing your own identical items at Costco.

We like staying here and have had a wonderful time. We didn’t use any of the amenities on site because we are exploring the island. With that being said the fees for amenities are a negative unfortunately for those of us who do not use them. It’s mostly quiet and right across the street from a beautiful golf course. Our favorite part of staying here is the location to Hanalei Bay area- 8 minute drive.

2nd time here and stayed in building D. Even though it’s not an updated unit, it was still nice and comfortable with a view of the ocean. The staff is very friendly, courteous and helpful. The grounds, location, boardwalk, and amenities were great. Rentals are available for snorkeling, beach chairs and etc. They can also assist in setting up excursions in regards to fishing or other trips you may want to do… Look forward to coming back!

This place had great views and a nice large room. We didn’t take advantage of the BBQ grills but that was a nice way to save some money on eating out.
We stayed a week there and really enjoyed the property and employees we encountered. As we ventured out and had dinner/drinks at other resorts in the area we noticed that most places had a bar near the pool which we would’ve enjoyed at our place….that’s a good way to keep people on site for sure. We also noticed other resorts had live music…another missed opportunity to keep folks on site. I was disappointed that we didn’t have a nice clean room each day when we returned we only got that one day during our stay. Not sure if that was VRBO policy or Pono Kai’s policy. Overall, a nice, clean, safe, enjoyable place to stay near shops and good eats! Check it out!

Overall, this isn’t a bad place and wouldn’t mind staying here again. However, there was nothing that overly impressed me into giving it five stars.
    Pros:
    – Decent kitchen. Counter space is small, workable
    – Good location. Kapaa isn’t the nicest town on Kauai, but it is central to everything
    – Beach front, and the normal amenities you’d expect from a resort

    Cons:
    – The pool isn’t that big or impressive
    – The gym is pretty small for a complex of this size, although it was never crowded. It had a treadmill, a bench, a bike, a stair master, weights, and a general machine.
    – We did have a couple of visiting roaches. This is pretty common in Hawaii, so not a big deal, but something noticed
    – Check in is at 5, which is pretty late, and check out is 10, which is pretty early

Love it here! Great ocean view and swimming. We could have stayed at the resort for the whole week. We did some exploring, but it was great coming back home. Thank you for yet another great experience!

Had a great stay here last week! It was a fantastic value compared to the high rates on the large resorts. We were in a recently renovated room that had AC, full kitchen, wifi, and nice beds. The only dated part was the bathroom, but that was minor so I didn’t take off a star for it. The facilities generally at the resort were very nice, but small, most notably the pool, so I did take a star off under “service” for that. However the location in Kapaa was great, within walking distance to the town various shops, and restaurants, and of course it was right on the beach with ample space to lay out, swim around, or go walking on the trail. All the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and they did a great job keeping the entire place clean. I’d definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

  1. We stayed at the Kauai Beach Villas and had added to the Beach Resort Amenities. You can tell the property owner is doing several improvements and renovations to the property. It’s not brand new, but the central location for exciting the island is perfect!! The seclusion of the property (very uncrowded beach with wide open views in both directions) is really wonderful and my kids enjoyed beach walking so much! We found plenty of crabs, fish, sea cucumber, sea urchin, snails, shells, and coral in the little tide pools along the shore. The surf is rough, no swimming at all, but the beach is beautiful to sit and enjoy or walk beside. Our kids LOVED the variety of pools, which never felt crowded. The restaurant and cabana bar were both good and we ordered several meals.

  2. Good choice for families and centrally located with easy access to other areas of the island. The beach is beautiful, though the surf is a bit rough for swimming. It has a great pool complex, but lacks quiet areas for adults to relax. Guest rooms are refreshed but do show their age. Highly recommend the one room suite for its spectacular view of the pool, gardens, and beach, and its expanded space and large bathroom.

  3. Stayed in a king room with a pool view. It was pretty nice, not super impressed with the room but the view was nice. The toilet ran, the shower head was loose so there was low pressure and the water ran down. Bed is very soft. And the ac would randomly shut off at night so the room would get warm. Those are the negatives, but the positives are the location is great. The property overall is beautiful, the views from the room are good, the spa was nice. We got a massage the first morning we were there and it was great. The pool is nice. There’s even a water slide.

  4. This is a beautiful resort and the grounds are lovely – you can belive their photos! Every single staff member I interacted with was absolutely amazing. They were friendly and helpful at all times. There’s an excellent spot to watch the sunrise on the beach. The restaurants are nice, if a bit pricey. The room was comfortable and clean. I very much enjoyed my week stay here and would definitely stay here again.

  5. Right on the beach! Beautiful grounds, very kind and friendly, helpful staff. Restaurant onsite had a great breakfast.❤️ Shutters Bar had wonderful entertainment nightly. Some technology issues with the room key FOBS, but staff worked hard to resolve. (Never did tho) Beds in the rooms were a bit harder than we were use to. Housekeeping kept rooms readily clean. Pools were clean, very cool temperature wise. Overall, a nice experience.
