What a fantastic experience! We made reservations at the restaurant for New Year’s Eve. Everything from the very friendly Julie who apparently manages the reservations to the evening was well put together. The food was spectacular and really well made. Everything was really high quality and you could tell a lot of love went into the creation of the menu well as the dishes. The stuff was more than accommodating and very friendly as well. The chef – Camille Gandolfo – greeted very guest at the end of the Meal. A very nice touch! Well done Madame! It was delicious!

Everything was amazing! I don’t know if I’ll return to Marseille, but if I do it will only be to stay at Les Bords de Mer another time.
The hotel – gorgeous! The hotel is small, and the rooms are tiny but very comfortable. Each room is oceanfront with the most spectacular views. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The restaurant – amazing! Each dish better than the last. I have to confess, as a typical American I arrived each day without a reservation and right at opening time, and while I could see on the manager’s face that this wasn’t appreciated, he was very welcoming and gracious. The servers had some of the friendliest faces I’ve ever seen!
If you’re in Marseille for vacation, this place is a MUST!

To say this is our favourite hotel on our trip is an understatement. With exceptional views due to its magnificent location on the corniche – le bords de mer is a definite winner for anyone wanting to visit Marseille – even in the spring !

Staff were very friendly, and we found most other guests to be french also. Try their breakfast and their incredibly reasonably priced wine!

    We will be back soon!

Les Bords de Mer is an exceptional place that provides an unforgettable experience for anyone who visits. This beachfront hotel is a perfect spot for a relaxing vacation, with amazing views of the sea and an inviting atmosphere.

The service is top-notch, with staff that is always attentive and helpful. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. The hotel’s restaurant is a culinary masterpiece, offering a wide range of delicious dishes that are expertly prepared and beautifully presented.

What sets Les Bords de Mer apart is its unique blend of modern design and natural beauty. The hotel’s interior is sleek and contemporary, yet it perfectly complements the surrounding environment. The property is also home to a stunning infinity pool, which provides the perfect spot to soak up the sun and take in the breathtaking views of the sea.

However, I rated this place 4 stars because the prices are a bit steep, which could be a turn-off for some visitors. Although the hotel provides an exceptional experience, it may not be accessible to everyone due to the high cost.

In terms of improvement, I suggest offering more affordable options or promotions to attract more budget-conscious customers. Additionally, the hotel could benefit from more outdoor seating and lounging areas for guests to fully enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Overall, I highly recommend Les Bords de Mer to anyone seeking a luxurious and relaxing getaway. It is truly a one-of-a-kind place that leaves a lasting impression. I would definitely consider returning in the future.

Booked a birthday dinner for my boyfriend. A modest restaurant with an inventive menu and a greaaat view! However they forgot the surprise candle on my dessert that they had promised, and it was rather awkward when another table had theirs….

Nice place and very correct price when out of season. Quite big pool, comfortable small rooms, very friendly stuff who explains you everything you need. Spa area was closed, wish it would be highlighted during booking, as availability of spa might be a criteria decision for hotel choice, so guest shall be aware prior booking. Otherwise very pleasant stay with available free parking.

Lovely oasis from the town of Cassis. The hotel is well run and offers all the extras you want when you are the road. Beautiful pool and seating area for breakfast or a glass of wine. All the staff are attentive and helpful. There is a bit of hill to hike up if you are on foot from the town but we both enjoyed the challenge. Great place to start the hikes through the Calanques.

A nice hotel in Cassis with friendly staff and a nice pool. The downside is the walk to the port which is quite steep. We didn’t have the breakfast or other extra services.

Lovely hotel in secluded and calming location above the old port, but within easy walk. Comfortable family room for three friends sharing, large shower room and lovely view of pool. Lovely gardens, pool and surrounding area, calm and very picturesque.
The aircon didn’t work in one of the rooms, which didn’t matter for us as temperatures were lower.

Stayed here late October for 2-nights as the bad weather came in and we didn’t want to stay in our camper. Good late booking rates (63 euros per night) for an obviously nice establishment.

Breakfast would be 14 euros per person so we skipped that and went to a bakery 1min walk away for a lovely breakfast and coffee. We also skipped the 15 euro per person, for 1-hour, jacuzzi even though it would have been relaxing after camping. The outdoor pool looked really inviting, but want heated and so at 16degrees we didn’t try that!

The room was really nice with a large bed, modern bathroom and traditional tiled flooring. As other reviews had said the walls are very thin and so you can hear others conversations and moving about. The rain dripping from the roof onto the decking outside the rooms was rather noisy in the storm
Too and surely good be dealt with better with the addition of guttering.

The hotel sits on the top of cassis town and so only a 10-15min walk down into the town. As other said the walk back up is rather steep but fine for anyone that is of reasonable fitness…but if you do have any walking difficulties then suggest a hotel down in the town would be better or you get a taxi back up.

With the price we paid we are happy but couldn’t imagine paying the 180 euro per night others describe during high season!

  1. This restaurant used to be one of my all time favorites around the world. This time I ordered the same set as last time, but quality has slipped and a few dishes have disappeared. I guess they are cutting back as inflation has risen. It’s disappointing in that sense, though it’s still a very good restaurant

  2. Very good food and view, service was great too but can be a bit more genuine. Overall fell slightly short of our expectation of a 3 star Michelin restaurant, but still a worth a visit if you are in Marseille and have 4 hours to spend for a nice dinner.

  3. Simple, tasty, well executed food, with some surprises. I definately recommend it. We had the fish set menu. The only thing, the desserts were a bit boring. The staff super polite and efficient.

  4. Lovely view, attentive service even with minor language differences, delicious cooking. Only slight gripe we had is the bouillabaisse is a tad bit too salty but that might be how it is meant to be? Either way, finished dinner feeling very full; seafood protein dominant meal.

  5. 22nd in my 3 stars Michelin Marathon in France (follow me for the reviews and updates)

    “La” Sea

What’s extraordinary here? It’s a 3 stars, it should be so. Here it’s obvious. It’s a shrine in devotion of the goddess of the sea.
Let’s back up and take it step by step.
The place. I’m pretty sure this place was known for ages to set up any sort of cult, simply because of the light. It’s incredible. You can even feel it on the pictures. It’s even more remarkable that it both reflect and hide the main subject: the sea.
Yes the sea. Not the ocean. The sea. Its abysmal blue depth where you loose yourself. Without the roughness. Not like a wild animal you want to conquer, but like a goddess that nourishes you, fascinates you. More poetry, less drama.
Ok, by now, you’re wondering how on earth can I say that. Fair point. The chef’s demonstration of technical skills here is not to impress you but to impress upon you both his love for the sea, and the motherly love of the sea giving you such beautiful ingredients. The chef is not showing of, he s just trying to share the love he found in the sea. The plate, the way the ingredients are treated , are pleasing. It’s not so much to think about it, but to feel, to explore and to dive.

But don’t worry, the chef makes sure it’s accessible, so bottom line, it’s delicious and refine.
One last point that demonstrates the focus on pleasing rather than impressing. The plate are absolutely gorgeous. Not over complicated, technical etc… No, just plain and simply gorgeous. Look at the dish with the caviar. Divine. Granted, it’s touched by a suspiciously sublime light.

Ok, I could go on and on but this review will be blocked like some of the previous one. I guess you get my point by now. By the way, I didn’t mention, it’s only fish and seafood Michelin restaurant. I didn’t because you really should not care. Of course, it’s important, it’s actually the main point, but it’s so remote from a traditional seafood restaurant that you should not think about it. It’s a 3 stars Michelin devoted to share the love of the sea, the chef sea.

Service is great, but here , they are not actors, as we’re all spectators.

Crowd: I saw couples, and I think a friendly business lunch. Lucky them.

I would obviously strongly recommend lunch or early dinner, otherwise you’d be missing the guest of honor: the light.

With the time, I realize the impact this restaurant had on me. I may have under estimated it at first.

It’s a very solid 3 stars that grew on you.
