  1. It was good before, then it is the worst when I changed and a man walked in and it so sudden that I scream and scare him away. He ran away right away and as I have to put on my clothes when I went out, he was not there. There is no camera or security here. It is the worst. Won’t come back again. I live in the first floor and there is no fence for the balcony. And I even am playing music from the TV and a man dare to just pull away my balcony door and try to walk in. No matter what reason, accidentally or in purpose, I am angry for those person as well as the hotel and their bad management.

  2. Just arrived back from the Starfish Cayo Santa Maria. The resort is going through major renovations. Half of it is completely closed off and only three residential units are operational on the side that is open. The main dinning hall is closed and so are the restaurants. One buffet is open. The pools are wonderful with swim-up bar. The beach is immaculate with clear water and soft (powder like) sand. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Personal, I enjoyed the smaller crowd of people which meant no fighting for pool chairs or beach spots. I definately recommend this resort and will go back.

  3. Beach is fabulous. Water is crystal clear, calm and warm. Go for the beach and don’t expect luxury. Went away last minute as the price was unbeatable. October 2022. Cuban people are wonderful. Lots of locals. Bomba.

  4. Had a wonderful time at our stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. There’s daily entertainment with different activities everyday. Rooms were simple but nice, the pillows were very soft but manageable.

The buffet was good, made fresh for every meal. Plenty of options and very good. By the end of the trip we did find the food to be repetitive but it was still good.

Beautiful resort, we did not use the pools but they were very nice. Beautiful flora around the resort with lots of flowers.

The beach is out of this world. So beautiful with the white sand. If you’re out early morning you may even see the pod of dolphins that come by. One thing to be careful of on the beaches are all the jellyfish that come in with the tide. Some days there’s a lot some days barely any. Just be smart.

The wifi is iffy at times but you don’t go on vacation to be online the whole time anyways.

Amazing experience all around. Highly recommend.

(If you’re out on the beach early morning cover up, the sand flys are really bad)

  5. The food was terrible, pork prepared poorly 5 different ways. Same cheese and cold cuts ever day, presented in 5 different ways. Better like eggplant, prepared 5 different ways. Chicken, overcooked and prepared…yup, 5 different ways. Fish or beef, maybe, occasionally, ground or boney beyond belief. Got sick, ended up fasting for days on end. On the bright side, lost 8 lbs. Many staff simply ignored you, even after 2 weeks of tipping. Aesthetically nice, beautiful gardens and beach but won’t do the 90 minute ride from Santa Clara again.

This resort delivered on sun and sand, warm sea breeze, relaxation, private moments with my spouse, and excellent service and amenities. The staff were humble and gracious hosts and made me feel the comfort of home in a perfect beach vacation setting. The experience was great value for the money and I hope to return several times.

We spent 2 nights here at the end of a two week trip and loved it. Well worth stretching for the suite overlooking the ocean. Private beaches were gorgeous, food in the evening was excellent, great range of cocktails and consistently good service.

I have been all over Cuba and all the staff at this hotel are exceptional. This is my 4 the time here. The rooms are beautiful complete with outdoor showers and a Terrance with a nice seating area. Thank you once again to everyone at Buenavista.

This was our first visit to Cuba and we had an amazing week at the MBV.
The hotel is located along 3 wonderful beaches, which offer great snorkeling opportunities, bird watching and plenty of sunbeds for relaxation. The staff are all super friendly, always greeting you with a smile and willing to help- this is what truly made this stay so special and is something that other, larger resorts fail to offer these days.

Food was good, there were always two restaurants to chose from which each had an a la carte menu with 3 choices for a starter, a main and a desert respectively. Everything tasted great, and all meals were made really presentable. Despite other reviews from other hotels in Cuba, we never had any issues with food poisoning or getting sick. You also have an option to eat at the other Melia resorts and there’s a shuttle bus that runs every couple of hours.
The 24/7 pizza grill near the pool was delicious and you could even have your pizza or burger at the beach 🙂

The hotel itself is very clean, and you see staff ensuring all bathrooms, common areas etc are cleaned regularly.
The rooms are very spacious although a bit outdated, and the outdoor shower is pretty cool! If you get a chance, you won’t regret booking an ocean view room and enjoying your coffee on the terrace.

Overall we had a great experience and would definitely return. If you’re looking for a quiet, adult-only stay with great beaches, friendly staff and no massive parties at night we’d highly recommend this place. We met a lot of great people on our trip and had a fun time!

Thank you to all the staff that made this vacation so memorable, we will be back!

Steps away from beautiful beaches. If you love to snorkel, this is a paradise for you because you are literally sleeping beside crystal waters and some of the most well preserved reefs. If you’ve always wanted to learn to snorkel, this is the perfect place to learn. You can put your face into the water Ankle deep and see fish.

If you prefer poolside there are 2 available with shallow water that is still swimmable but mostly used by guests for a quick dip in cool off & get back out again. They are also very beautiful.

Friendly, warm staff that are always welcoming and accommodating. There are 2 dinner restaurants, a breakfast brunch on the east side of the property and a small bbq hutch pool side. Rooms were large and clean.

This is a small resort for adults. Some great evening music entertainment but mostly very serene and peaceful. There’s a spa, gym, tennis court, 3 very private beaches with different “feels”, each serviced by a bar.

If you need more excitement, there is a shuttle to the 2 larger properties that have other options for food and entertainment. We quickly became accustomed to the peaceful grounds and were always happy to come back to the serenity.

My boyfriend and I just got home from the Royalton and it was one of our most favorite trips. The food was great, the resort was beautiful. The sunsets on the beach were the best we’ve ever seen! A very special thank you to our butler Michel whom went out of his way to make our stay feel extra special. The entire staff are all wonderful people. We can’t wait to return one day soon ❤️

Nice place, it was clean, rooms are big and beds were very comfortable. Nice service, but in some area they can certainly improve. The food; this can improve also. They do what they can with what they have, so in a week you will see the same meal a couple of times on the menu. Some meals are very good, others … well it makes you appreciate more your own cooked meals. The beach is the best. The clientele is an average 50 +. The pools were clean.
We went there with friends and had a good time. Don’t expect to use the internet easily, it works like hell. Some people were able to have it in their rooms, others said they couldn’t. It’s a very archaic system! We would probably go back in a few years.

Four of us ladies just returned from the Royalton and we had such a fun and relaxing vacation. The food was great, the resort was a smaller resort which we loved! Pools were great but the beach… the beach was amazing, White sand and crystal clear water and the sunsets are incredible! Our butler Michel was always there for whatever we may have needed. We were celebrating one of our friends birthdays and he made that night even more special. Thank you Michel!! It was a trip to remember!!

My wife and I just returned from this Luxury resort with superior service. Very friendly staff and excellent food. General Manager Alessandro makes it a point to ensure the guests are content with the service and amenities by interacting with the guests regularly. The 2 butlers ( Diana and Lester) that looked after us were simply amazing. Chefs, grill masters next to the snack bar, service staff and bartenders aim to please. The pristine grounds are manicured by the hard working groundskeepers daily. We definitely recommend this hotel to any adults looking for a luxurious stay with top notch service. Definitely will return soon. Thank you to everyone that made our stay one of the best vacations we have ever had.

First GOOD thing, bus drivers or guides sell no more beer on the transfer bus!!!!
From the 5 resorts we visited so far in Cuba, this was the best.
If you mix in the fact that the Cubans on the resort are working HARD to provide good services (I know we have different standards, but we should give them credit for what they are doing!), this was a very positive experience.
    We will come back!
