We got a Ocean Front 1 bedroom cottage.. it was a last minute decision to tour Cape Breton… the location and service so far is great. Nice little place… but the cottages need a lot of update and general cleanup around… I mean, first thing I had to do was get the broom and start getting rid of the spiders over the door and in the corner…. the bathroom is crazy small and the shower smaller… not sure I can clean up in it tomorrow morning… and if your not going to add AC in the cottage, how about bigger windows that actually open?? And even better yet, how about curtains in the windows you do have?? Get rid of the satellite TV and give me AC and curtains!! The only thing worth $200/night is the view… not the cottage…By Michel Beaulieu (9 months ago)Our stay at Glenghorm was exceptional – the waterfront and beach are incredibly beautiful. Enjoyed having nightly fires. Our cabin was clean and provided everything we needed for our stay. Dinner was yummy – but breakfast is indeed a light spread of bagels and beverages. No big deal, If that isn’t enough for you – bean barn beside them prepares an excellent full breakfast. Thank you Glenghorm, we’ll be back!By Sarah Formagin (8 months ago)Friendly service. Super comfortable beds! Very clean. Breakfast was good, no warm foods other than toast, but lots of cereal and such. A great place to spend the night or a few, depending on your plans.By Freya Ferguson (6 months ago)Arrived a little early….”no problem sir, your room is ready.” Cleaning staff very friendly, great recommendations on what to do for the day. We stayed in a $200 cabin, which I would of paid more for!!! Clean and cool. The beach was fantastic…..and the VIEW…..what can I say but absolutely stunning!!!!! Can’t wait to come back. Thank you staff, you made us feel so welcomed 👍By Tom Birch (9 months ago)The room needs quite a few updates and a good cleaning, as well as a new mattress. The location is good along the trail as well as near the beach, but the photos online look nicer than in person. The staff was very nice and personable though!By Morgan Elizabeth (8 months ago)

Stayed here twice, once over the summer and once this fall. The first time I was here it was absolutely great 5 star experience… this last trip not so much. The biggest issue is that the internet would drop out every 10 minutes so doing anything online basically isn’t possible. On top of this the toilet leaked and I had to fix the chain in the toilet tank every time I wanted to use the bathroom.
That being said the rooms have kitchens so you can cook your own food and there’s lots of blankets and towels. The best part is the easy access to the ocean even though the beach isn’t the greatest. I plan on coming here again for sure, despite the issues I had the vibe is second to none.
By Matthew Woods (6 months ago)We made this spot a great tradition every fall! Nothing but good to say, UNTIL October 2022. Since Covid obviously you don’t see anyone, it’s contactless check in and out etc, which is fine, we’re pretty self sufficient. For us cleanliness is key, first and foremost, understand that I have nothing against dogs lol, however, immediately upon entering our cabin the smell was a bit predominant, no biggie, we opened the windows, temps were 12degrees at check in 🙂 Our happy went to blah when we sat on the sofa only to find it absolutely covered in beach sand and dog hair. Still, no biggie, I called to see if we could borrow a shop vac… then it becomes frustrating, calls go to voicemail, upon walking up to the office knocking at the door you’re greeted by a locked door and directions to call, everything is contactless etc .. Probably the most frustrating part is noting the warning on the booking that there’s a fee, $25 I believe, for cleaning if you’re bringing a pet.. obviously I wanted it known that the mess wasn’t ours first off and aside from that we wanted a spare blanket to throw over the sofa to watch tv. At close to 300 a night I think the least this place could do is return your call when you leave your number, I’m not big on change but our fall tradition may be taking a detour around this place in 2023, I get the covid way of life but you still need to be available for your guests! We travel across the Maritimes year round and have for years, I’ve left two reviews online in my life, a hotel without functioning heat during our stay and this place without being properly cleaned or staffed, I don’t feel the need to complain about the little things but people need to do better than Ingonish ChaletsBy Joey Moser (3 months ago)We really enjoyed our stay at the chalet. It was very clean & roomy which allowed us to sprawl out & actually relax. The bathroom was a good size with lots of towels. The beds were also decent & the living area was very the biggest part. We didn’t use the kitchen to cook but made use of the fridge & dining area. I’d stay here again.By Priya Shah (8 months ago)My wife and I had stayed for a night. Really nice and clean place. Highly recommendedBy MrScottcoish (2 months ago)This is a great property in a beautiful Ingonish setting. We have stayed twice and have recommended this property to others who rated it highly. The units are very clean and well appointed.
For our August 31/22 one night stay I had reserved a 2-bedroom cottage with a single bed in one bedroom and and two beds in the other. As our assigned cottage had a single bed in each of the two bedrooms, I phoned and was advised that they do not guarantee the number of beds as reserved; which was unusal practice. One of our party of four chose to sleep on the futon after being offered a cot.By Eric Macinnis (8 months ago)

Outstanding customer service and breathtaking location! Amazing food at the restaurant with live music at sunset (and a delicious breakfast the next morning) made this stay truly magical. We stayed in the Cottage Bedroom with two doubles. There is a common room off the entrance with a fireplace, a desk, and the most stunning views. There are two bedrooms off the common room so it’s more private if you have both bedrooms booked. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely outdated, to the point where you couldn’t pay me to use the shower or hair dryer (layers of grime and dirt), and you had to be careful where you walked because there were large bugs crawling on the floor. I wore my shoes around, even during the night. The beds were clean, but I did not have a good sleep. I would stay here again, but only at the Lodge itself since I assume it’s better taken care of at double the price.
Most ridiculous hotel I’ve ever seen.
The view is the only thing they have left. I guess the golf too, if you’re going there to golf.
There was no hot water in our bathroom.
No heating in our room.
The cottages are old. You can’t use the fireplace.
Food was tasteless. You could see the duck and lamb were of great quality, but they were done terribly. No salt, no spices, burnt sauces. I expect food to be good when I pay 50$ per main. Wasn’t expecting perfection, just wanted good food.
The charcuterie board was the only good thing. That being said, anyone can take charcuterie out of a container and put it on a plate.
Such a shame. I’ve heard good things in the past but this place is a disgrace. Avoid at all cost.
We went this October for The Gal’s Weekend. Our room was in The Corson House on the ground floor with a deck open to the grounds and our view was facing Cape Smokey, great place to go and relax with a glass a wine. Hiked the Middle Trail where the views were breathtaking. I highly recommended the Gondola 🚠 Ride. You won’t be disappointed with the views at the top. Love Cape Breton and will be coming back next year!
Cheers 😀
Hotel rooms were way over priced for motel quality. Poor room service, the hotel staff are untrained and unprepared as it was quite obvious that asking for baking toiletries stumped them.
Food at the purple thistle was over priced, over cooked and the service was poor. I felt bad for the server as she kept apologizing. We simply left. Complaints to management went nowhere.
I do not recommend!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS-
Dealing with Clare as our “wedding planner” has been a nightmare thus far. We have emails asking for specific dates in 2023, they replied saying 2023 was full but could accommodate the same dates in 2024, so we waited. It felt like pulling teeth to get an email reply back ever since we got Clare assigned to us. To say were disappointed is an understatement because the lack of professionalism displayed was beyond belief. Unorganized, broken promises and a complete lack of communication on their end was what we dealt with; but it’s over now. Silver lining truly is that we won’t have the added stress of working with this venue any longer. Thanks for wasting our time and pulling the rug from under us.
