  1. Can’t go wrong with location but unfortunately the hotel food is very average and overpriced. Does not cater for children (ours were 5&6) very well.
We also had an unfortunate smelly drain in our room (Cabanas 131&132) that took a while to fix and persisted throughout the stay.
The actual water out the taps also smelled horrid.
Service from staff was friendly and can’t be faulted. Size of rooms and bathrooms very nice. Nowhere to hide on a windy day though, all the swimming pools are exposed.
But in terms of location, you can’t go wrong. Walking distance to Camps Bay beach and all the bars and restaurants.
Good for 1-2 nights if you have small children but can’t do more than that.

  2. I have not stayed at the hotel but I have used the spa and pool on two occasions and oh my god, amazing. The spa is such a treat and the staff are so good at what they do. I cannot remember the name of who gave me a massage but Mbali did my facial and it was the best facial I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. The pool is lovely as well and you can use it when you use the spa (after spending a certain amount) in the off season. Would highly recommend!

  3. This was my third visit to use the pool for the day as a non-hotel guest, and on this occasion I was told by no less than FOUR staff members that pool access would cost R650, and this is in a very direct, not especially delicate way. Once walking into the property, once at the front desk, once entering the pool area, once when we were sat and asked for menus…
Cherry on the cake was the waiter who came with his card machine to bill us for pool access as we had our hands full of sunscreen, and before we even had the chance to order drinks or food 🤯

So extremely frustrating – had half a mind to leave towards the end.

  4. Amazing! This must be one of the best accommodations I have ever experienced. Helpful and friendly staff, amazing food and drinks, location is superb with a breathtaking viewing over the beach. Big shout out to Peter Jaftha who assisted us during our stay at The Bay and Camps Bay Retreat. He is the type of person you want in the business. His hospitality makes you feel welcome from the first time you start talking to him or when you need any assistance.

  5. Thank you to all who made my stay feel like I was at home. This hotel understands that hospitality is far more than service, which is so difficult to teach. I will be back only because of the care, friendliness, warmth and professionalism of the entire team – from FOH, waitrons, managers, F&B, security, room perfectors! Wow and thank you 🩷

It’s cool and all, but the lifeguards are real douches. Twice I was whistled out the water, where the water was lower than waste deep. The one lifeguard had the gall to tell me it was because he was worried the current would sweep me away. Meanwhile, I have been swimming for practically his entire life and 20 or so years more. But I guess they save that generosity for people they ‘think’ can’t swim.

    Beautiful beach.
I would prepare and bring water and anything you might want along with you. This can be very pricey on the beach. R25 for a normal bottle of water

While the beach is beautiful, I think that there are a lot better beaches in CPT. Also, good luck with finding an uber back!

Very chilled and safe environment. More tourists than locals. The beach also has a tuck shop

The entrance to the beach is somewhat hidden. There are lots of steps down to the beach – just take note. As one point you can go left or right, go right 🙂 the beach is clean and pretty. A little small but very lovely. The doggies run free and most people pick up the poop. Go early to get a good parking spot. Will visit again.

This is our favourite beach in Cape Town. The views are incredible, and the wind isn’t very strong that side (so you can go to this beach on a windy day and still be ok). It can get a bit crowded during the peak season, especially with all the dogs people bring, but overall, it’s our favourite spot to chill and relax. Warning: the water is super cold in the summer time (December to February), only the bravest venture out in those frigid waves.

A 2 min walk down the stairs and you hit a private little beach that is dog friendly. I will often go early on a Saturday morning with my husky, to enjoy the icy sand and isolation. Would definitely consider this a safe beach!

Personally I don’t find the beach anything out of the ordinary, although clean, it’s a small beach, gets crowded easily. The water is obviously very cold and there are quite a bit of steps to climb when you leave the beach, hot and sweaty and still have to climb the steps
