Very friendly and helpful staff and lovely clean and spacious sea view room. Excellent food with very good portions and as one of us was gluten-free there was no problem with having the correct food nothing was too much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend and hope to return soon. There was off road parking which is always a bonus.

We went for a Valentine’s day treat. The food was fabulous and the service. Lesley and her team had made the whole restaurant look really fabulous. We had a lovely evening.

Normally a nice pint and good service but tonight we asked to exchange the pint of Guinness my son had as wasn’t tasting good. Was greeted with a face pulling from the member of staff and then waited a few minutes and when she finally came back was told he must be feeling ill and there wasn’t anything wrong with it. After being apart of the hospitality industry for over 35 years this wasn’t the best excuse I’ve heard. Only asked to replace it but given a shrug of her shoulders and walked of. Won’t be going back.

Honestly, I really recommend this place for many reasons. Btw, I stayed during the Easter Holiday 2023 (Friday to Monday). I paid £55 per night because I got it on a promo and I booked in advance. That includes the buffet breakfast.

Listed below are the really amazing things about this accommodation:

    1. Dave was very accommodating and hospitable. He goes above and beyond especially during breakfast. He was just very nice and kind.

    2. They allowed me to check-in early because my bus arrived at Penzance by 7am. (Note though that they allowed because the previous guests in the room left early that day). They also replied with my e-mail and phone call when I was coordinating this. Dave checked me in and explained everything. The room was not yet made when I arrived because the guests that was staying in Room 23 just left, but Dave made sure that it was made immediately.

    3. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal. The sausages, for some reason, were very good. Don’t know what difference do they have from the sausages that I buy in London but they were definitely better. Maybe it’s the way they cooked it. Their restaurant is very spacious. And like what I said, Dave was a very good host and waiter during breakfast time.

    4. I was in Room 23 (Sennen Cove Room) and boy, THE VIEW FROM MY ROOM WAS AMAZING. IT WAS FACING THE PROMENADE SO I SEE THE SUN RISE AND SET AND I HEAR THE WAVES TOUCHING THE WALLS OF THE PROMENADE which was wonderful.

    5. My room has a double bed, very spacious, has a telly, a good sized closet, viewing chairs and table in the window area, very spacious bath and toilet as well.

    6. The cleaning ladies/gents (which I haven’t met) tidied my room very well everyday. Thanks to them as well.

    7. The Inn is a short walk from the Penzance Train and Bus Station. It is very close to the Jubilee Pool which also has a bus stop. There is an Iceland and Lidl close by too.

    Needs Improvement:

    1. Room 23 has a low water pressure in the shower. The toilet and the tap both have really good water pressure though. It is just the shower, so my shower time was a bit longer because of this. At one point, I had to improvise and use water bottles to do the shower quickly. The water temperature was good though, there is warm and cool water in the tap and the shower.

    2. Room 23 is just above the restaurant so you can sometimes hear the restaurant guests from the room. It did not bother me at all though because the noise is very minimal.

Thank you very much to The Lugger Inn Team for a very nice stay.

If you’re in and around Penzance, this is a must. My husband and I stayed last Saturday night and we’re not disappointed. We found it from the Michelin Guide and decided to do a Cornwall road trip and stayed here one of the nights. As soon as we walked in the front door and into the bar/restaurant area, the view is incredible. And the environment was unbelievable. Couches and chairs inside and out to enjoy the view and ocean air. The check in process was very smooth, and our room was absolutely incredible. We stayed in one of their good double rooms and are excited to try an upgraded version when we go back because we don’t know how it could get better! The room was spacious and the ocean view was unbelievable. One of my favorite places I’ve stayed in the UK. Our dinner was really great as well, although service could have been a touch friendlier. Breakfast was also great with a kitchen-made main and tables full of serve-yourself. Overall, such a great experience. If you’re in the area and looking for somewhere to stay, definitely stay here!!

We came across this place on a coastal walk and could see it was well placed for a wonderful view so ventured in and we’re not disappointed. We enjoyed a drink overlooking the sea then went inside for a light lunch which was lovely. A super atmosphere/ambiance. I also wanted to mention a lovely waitress named Sheila; so friendly and welcoming, a real credit to the owners. We will return and plan to stay over during the summer months.

Delightful staff, delicious food and a stunning garden and view to eat from. This place was just perfect.

We went in for lunch on a hurry as my kids and I had a train to catch in Penzance an hour and 15 minutes after we arrived. We let the waitresses know this as she rushed our food order straight to the kitchen. Then came back and got our drinks order.

3 staff brought out our food, another brought colouring pencils for the kids.

We sat under a parasol on the terrace in a beautiful garden with stunning sea views.

The food when it arrived was remarkably exquisite. Both my Mum and sister said they wished they’d ordered the larger size of the tomato salad and my kids fish and chips were so delicious. We were all felt the food was of very high quality and tasted notably fresh and delicious..

Our waitress was so lovely and attentive and the inside decor looked delightful too.

We felt this was the perfect end to our holiday. Thank you so much.

    We will be coming back.

Mainly sea food as you would expect but if it wasn’t your choice to go there you can still get chicken and chips instead (which was lovely) but watch out for the portion size of the almond tart combo, microscopic and £8.00 for the privilege.. maybe ‘stick’ with the sticky toffee pudding 🍮 instead as it’s of a decent size. Overall, quality restaurant with excellent staff 👍 and nice surroundings.

What a location overlooking the Bay and a lovely ambience inside , a superb meal for 4 , lamb , lemon sole, hake and pork belly all thoroughly enjoyed by everyone . Good selection of wines including non alcoholic Riesling and dessert wines. A very friendly and efficient front of house – no complaints no criticisms other than perhaps the offer menu was a little limited and we didn’t use it . Have been a few times now and enjoyed every visit – highly recommended.

  1. Friendly, helpful staff. Never needed to look for staff for more drinks or service. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Lovely view of the sunset. I’d like a few more non fish options, but what we had was very nice. Steak was cooked just to my liking. Hope to come again.

  2. Had an impromptu dinner here during our half term.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere and wonderful view of the sunset over St Michael’s Mount from the restaurant.
Really enjoyed our food, shared calamari to start followed by steak and burger. Good quality food and portions were generous. We will definitely return when we are in Cornwall next year.

  3. I am not a fussy eater but Never have had the experience of eating, or at least almost eating smelly food.
Once we got inside the restaurant we were welcomed as it should, however, we ordered food after a long day walking, we went for something hot first, a soup.
When they brought the soup, folks, was warm to almost cold, we had to eat as we were hungry, but the food was cold, we did not want to create any discomfort to the staff and we hoped the main will come warmer and tastier but a HUGE disappointment.
I have ordered rabbit and my partner some rice pasta with some vegetables but the food looked horrible and not even hot, it was warmed up in the microwave, it came half warm and half room temperature, my partner’s food was half hot and half warm, the taste was horrible.
I went to the Management and not even one apology came from her, she looked and she left.
I decided to not pay for the mains and we paid for the soup and drinks.
    Even the drinks were tasteless.
My point is, smell their food before you eat and do not drink if there is no taste, if one of those happened to you well, bad luck.
For those who did not go thru same experience, next time make sure the food is fresh and hot enough to kill the bacteria because mine was old, cold and smelly, almost rotten from the inside.
They tried to cover with vegetables and sous, absolutely dry and tasteless.
I paid £60 as I was not in a mood to argue or create a scene but I paid for what I ate, next time I will most definitely go for Marazion Hotel.
It is a proper 4* hotel, their food is above the sky, go there if you want a great experience, when we chose to go to Marazion Hotel was closed that’s why we chose this place as it was very close to Marazion Hotel.
    Absolutely disappointed!
Shame on them and their chefs!

  4. Really disappointed with my birthday breakfast 😔 avocado and egg on toast, ruined by a ton of lemon in the avocado you couldn’t taste anything else. Pastries heated up in the same place they cook smoked bacon so they smelt and tasted like smoked bacon, not great when you’re a vegetarian. I did get another pastry which was microwaved instead and was fine. It’s lovely to sit in and enjoy the views with a drink, just a shame the food doesn’t match up. Its not the first time I’ve had poor food here but I thought it would have improved, sadly not this time. Staff are nice, although I could hear them when they took the food back to the kitchen which made me feel a little awkward sitting there.

  5. Stopped here on coastal path walk for breakfast.
Unbelievable location with view over St Michael’s Mount.
Breakfast was superb and the staff extremely welcoming.
Decor was very modern, smart but relaxing.
Hope to return for an overnight stay
