The views are great and we had a nice trip away with family but I’m leaving three stars because the cleanliness of the caravan was not good at all there was a few things but they all add up there was –
• McDonald’s wrappers under the bed.
• No linen supplied for the beds.
• sand on the carpet and worktops.
• a large build up of dust on the sideboard.
• and kids cereal spilled down the back of the sofa bed along with a wrapper so it was a disappointment to say the least.By Ross Mackinnon (6 months ago)Stayed in 3 bedroom caravan on site for four nights. Excellent accomodation for money paid. North wind blowing cold so had to wrap up well. Reception staff excellent.By Gordon Milne (a week ago)The actual park is okay, kids were happy. The location is good, nice beach and a lovely park onsite. My disappointment came with the actual cleanliness of the park facilities and our caravan.
The entertainment room is obviously used mostly in the evening and I understand staff have late nights. However when you need to attend that same function room in the morning for a kids event or meet the crew I would have hoped the room would have been cleaned before hand. As it’s not nice arriving with children in the morning and the tables are sticky from last night, the floor needs a good hoover and the chairs are covered in crumbs as well. As for our caravan, (pet friendly so paid more for this) upon arrival we didn’t notice the smells, however by morning (once caravan doors were closed over night) the smell of wet dog (not ours) was so intense, and the carpet clearly hadn’t been hoovered between guests! the caravan was offered to be hoovered. Which took the hairs yes but not the smell. So the following day the caravan was offered to have the carpet cleaned (which at that moment it was raining so we’d want to be in the caravan) and was told he’s need to have wet carrots in the caravan for a few hours till it dries, which may take longer as of current weather. Upon taking the sofa bed out that night the smell, hairs and sand that were actually in the sofa bed was worse then a dog bed itself, we simply closed it and slept on the sofa as was and returned to reception in the morning. Having been there each day at least once to discuss the conditions. We were constantly told there was no other caravan, and on the last day was told ‘well if it ‘s that bad why didn’t you leave on day 1’. When you have 3 kids that have been looking forward to their holiday at the caravan for the first time and looking forward to family time together and travelled a fair distance to get there the solution is not oh kids let’s pack up and go home because this place is dirty. I understand we may have been an exception, but the servo and responses relating to the cleanliness were just not helpful and never resolved the issues. And considering you pay more to have a pet there I would hope the standards are raised.By ema southgate (9 months ago)Great park.

We’re Travelling the NC500 and Reviewing as we go along, and the Smoo Hotel was very accommodating during our trip. Its located in Durness and not far from the Smoo Caves, but still very rural, but worth making this a stopping point in the NC500.
The staff were excellent and chatty. There’s a bar/pub in the hotel, so no need to venture out.
The meals in the pub were very good, but a little small……as was the breakfast.
The hotel is clean and Homely and well maintained. Nice conservatory to sit in, and outdoor area too. The dining room is well set out and clean.
Disabled Access, and I sure we saw someone with their dogs in the pub too.
Fairly average price for accommodation, and bar prices. The scenery surrounding the Hotel is outstanding!
Overall a great stay.🚩 Location 8/10

⚠️ Negatives- Meals a bit small.By Vulcan Hotel Reviews (7 months ago)Caught the owner in the carpark, when we were looking for anything to eat on an out of season Sunday. We were invited in and
made so welcome, even though food was not officially available until 5.00 two bowls of excellent home made cauliflower soup and rolls were rustled up.
We appreciate how lucky we were to have enjoyed true Highland hospitality. As for so many in the hospitality industry staff are not available, chefs/cooks doubling up as front of house. Food service is currently limited to evenings and then only in the bar.
There must be an answer but who knows what it is.By simon jones (a month ago)Good food and beer.
Worst service received in 15 days holiday in Scotland though.
We called to book a table and were told it wasn’t necessary. “Just walk in and order.”
Arriving at 7.15pm at the bar we are told the tables are all full and we can only order to go. They advise us against waiting because the kitchen closes at 8pm and they cannot assure us that we will be able to eat.
We order and wait…..
While we wait, a couple of very kind gentlemen wave to us to take a seat because they are leaving.
Impossible! The girl at the bar tells us that we have now ordered to go and so we cannot sit down. She asserts that we have paid less because to take away.
I still ask to pay the difference and sit at the table.
Impossible!!!!
They show us a table outside. In the cold….
We try but it’s really too much!
We leave with the food.
As we leave there are three (3!) tables free.
Fortunately, the B&B that is hosting us kindly seats us at the table in the dining room, offers us two glasses of excellent red wine, and sorts out our evening.
Surely there was some misunderstanding because of the language, the fact remains that there were tables available and they did not seat us.By Gianni Ruo (7 months ago)Fantastic service and meal at this wonderful local hostelry run by a former Scottish football star. Lovely to meet a local who supports Nottingham Forest and eat delicious locally sourced monkfish. Great experience.By Nick Jones (a month ago)Stopped here for food en route to Sango Sands where we were staying in the campervan.Staff were super friendly and although food wasn’t served till 5pm let us know and allowed us to grab a few drinks and place our order in advance of the kitchen opening ready.
Staff were chatty and friendly. Everything reasonably priced. Food is decent pub grub! Considering it is out of season, decent food and lovely attentive staff.
Great stop near smoo cave to warm up.

We have just spent one night here on our travels, had beautiful spot high on cliff edge overlooking the stunning beach, even had brief spell of northern lights. Toilets and shower are clean and hot, one word of caution, can be extremely windy.
Stayed on a beautiful pitch right overlooking the sea, which we asked for when we booked and they granted our wish. The location is lovely with local shops for supplies. The beach was absolutely beautiful, however the only problem is two of the shower/ washing up facilities and the toilet facilities were closed. So we had to trek all the other side of the park to wash up and shower. Really not ideal tbh. But the location made up for it.
Great campsite location. A large site but with a good amount of facilities. Great breakfast bar. Stunning views to the beaches below and easy access to a fantastic Spar supermarket nearby (short walk).
Stayed here for two nights on a Seaview pitch, amazing view and clean campsite. Showers and facilities are good and clean. Friendly staff on arrival, overall great campsite and would go again if in the area.
Site is in a stunning location with amazing views. I can confirm that there is a pub next to the site but doesn’t serve food. However the beer is great!
