We came here as it’s linked to the hotel we are staying in Tulum. Fairly nice place, although no towels or anything and staff weren’t very friendly. Would have been fine apart from we had to then pay 25% service which is just extortionate (and only had two drinks)! It wasn’t like they waited on us hand and foot. Top it off, you pay more to use card of course!
Also – not solely their fault but the beach clubs along here need to do something about the plastic pollution. Much of it is tourist waste and is all clogged up in the seaweed going in and out of the ocean. It’s not a nice place to be and is just sad when there is a lot of wealth going into this area.
By Chloe Hall (2 months ago)It is painful for me to say this, but the experience that I had with the staff of this place needs to be shared.I came in to inquire about renting the space for a private party. The owner was eager to help and assigned me an event planner. She was very eager to help in the beginning, being very attentive and nice and answering all my questions. She sent me a list of the food and drinks but after explaining that I would like to bring in outside catering she became not as helpful…
When I asked for an image of the floor plan she said she will send it to me in a few days. After waiting a week or so and not hearing from her I reached out to her again in which she told me she switched departments and sent me to the new event planner.
When I spoke to the new event planner she told me I could not have the hours that I wanted, which the previous event planner said I could. She said the party had to end at 7pm. This was a deal breaker for me.
I asked to speak with the owner that I met the day I came in to inquire about the space. I was told that she was in charge of renting the space and I could not talk to the owner.
I wanted to rent the space for half a day 11am-11pm and was quoted $4,000 usd. I was going to pay it.
The whole experience and conversations seemed very suspicious. Especially how abruptly the help I was receiving stopped when I mentioned I was going to bring outside catering. Come to realize, from reading the passed reviews of this place, that so many guests have been sick from the food!!!
I feel so sorry for the owner, I definitely got sabotage vibes.
By Crystalite Designs (4 months ago)We have been to this beach club during our stay in Tulum. The place has really high prices and they don’t even try to clean the beach from sargassum… No beach umbrellas and no cleaning of sun beds… They charge 100 MXN for a towel which is not even clean…By Balazs Juhos (a month ago)Akiin is a scam is all I can say. We were told that unlike many of the neighbouring beach clubs, there was no entrance fee or minimal consumption fee. Sounded good so figured we’d would settle here for the day and get some food and drinks. When ordering our 2nd drink, the waiter suddenly said it was a $50 USD minimum per person (far higher than most places) The waiter was rude and provided no explanation at all. Now given their prices, we probably would’ve spend that amount anyway, but how quickly they seem to have changed their policy was reason enough for us the skip the 2nd drink, leave cash for the 1st and walk out. Also interestingly enough, we were only two customers in the place and it’s quite a big place.. Lastly, the music is terribly loud in there and they had just 5 tracks playing on repeat constantly, most of which were remixes of one original so it felt like a loop playing over and over. After reading the many accounts of food poisoning in the reviews, I am honestly glad we didn’t stay..By Danny van der Heijden (7 months ago)We are Frida Flowers Tulum, this last Sunday we setup this beautiful flowers for an amazing wedding, Akiin Beach is a very famous and important spot for weddings in Tulum.By Ernesto Aarón Sanchez Cabrera (3 months ago)

Loved this hotel! Wish I could’ve stayed here longer than the one night we booked. Beautiful place. The parking can be a bit challenging to find especially at night (watch out for the cops that patrol the area). The check-in process was seamless and service was great (we got a complementary room upgrade). The hotel is beautiful and a bit quiet – a hidden gem. The room was great, spacious and pretty! The rooftop pool was nice to look at and see the views from. Perfect distance between Tulum beach and Tulum center. One of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed in on vacation.By Lala Ervin (5 months ago)Wow. Freaking great experience. The staff was super nice and personable. The room was gorgeous. The rooftop was dreamy. The only challenge is that we weren’t walking distance from the beaches but we had taxis to help with that. I would definitely stay here again. Would give 10 stars if I could.By Douglas Parker (4 months ago)We enjoyed it a few times with the kids on a day pass. If you are in the area, it’s convenient. Food is ok! Staff is very nice.
For some reason the pool water is odd, especially the hot tub. It destroyed our swimsuits. Turned all green 🙁By Sjors dW (2 months ago)If you book a room without windows, you are signing up for living in a box. There is a humid smell in those rooms, the rooftop is definitely great but rooms are simply bad. Also the air conditioning in those rooms doesn’t work. Not good experience rooms wise, rooftop was great. Also the walls are so thin that anyone talking outside can wake you up in the morning.By Kshitij Kansal (4 months ago)Here right now. Rooftop is beautiful. Margaritas 🍹 are 10/10 better than what they make in the states. Room is comfortable. Bed could be a lil softer but it is still very comfortable. I have slept well.By Jabari Sims (3 months ago)

Very lovely place in a great location. Guillermo was warm, helpful, full of recommendations and shares our love for cats. Beautiful property, full of charm in every corner and the rooms were comfortable. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. The downstairs cafe has great food and a nice seating area.By Vivian Geow (2 months ago)Lovely experience, a true hidden gem. Stayed for a week, had a king suite and a queen studio. Has hot water, AC, drinking water, a beautiful rooftop area, and a masseuse via appointment. Clean, surprisingly roomy, and the location was just far away enough from the main road to avoid most noise. Tulum does have an active night life, so do expect some noise late at night regardless of where you stay! The attached cafe was perfect for delicious morning coffee and fresh breakfast. Flor and the colonel were fantastic hosts, definitely worth checking out!By Darren Strydom (a month ago)The below review is specifically for the larger more pricier accomodation (2 bedrooms). The first night, we had a one bedroom which was nice.
Pros
– centrally located
– nice man managing the place, provides useful adviceCons – poor quality – they really need to maintain their rooms before charging an absurd amount with their focus on maximising profit…
– bathroom Sink blocked
– very foul and disgusting smell all around the rooms (alerted manager but obviously nothing could be done)
– uncomfortable mattresses (single beds…the double in other room is comfortable)
– fridge not Working despite the manager trying
– poorly lighted rooms
– fan doesn’t work when the light is switched off, only when it’s on (we only realised this late at night upon check in)
– lamp beside bed doesn’t workBy J Adam (4 months ago)They upgraded our room for free and were super nice about it. So we made a mistake as we booked the room and we only recognized that as we arrived at the hotel. They upgraded us to a really nice bigger room.Guillermo who works at the reception is a super friendly and helpful. Vielen Dank / muchos gracias Guillermo.
It’s a very charming place. Water running in the center and there is a friendly cat roaming around. A great cafe next door. We spent a week in Mexico and this for sure was our favorite location.
By Christian Liebhardt (5 months ago)This hotel also has a restaurant on the ground floor. So, we did not stay in this hotel but only had breakfast. The charming atmosphere that characterizes this restaurant was surely delight me. Decorated with colorful murals and Mayan stone carved fountains, this restaurant feels authentic, local and a bit tropical.
Attracted by the coffee offer, we end up here on our first morning.
The range of different types of coffee is impressive. In addition to the usual coffees such as cappuccino and americano, there are also many special versions. Both cold and hot variants. If you like coffee this is definitely your place.
We drank a regular coffee (americano) in the morning. This one was very delicious and really great, but rather small. For the price, I expected a slightly larger cup. But I must say that the coffee was particularly well made.
The breakfast was also phenomenally good. I opted for a typical Mexican stew with beans and cheese. My wife chose porridge with yogurt. Both choices were fantastically tasty, large, and much above average.
However, the offer on the menu was much more extensive. There were both traditional Mexican breakfasts and European oriented breakfasts with homemade bread, omelet,…
I can absolutely recommend this place for breakfast.
